A pre engineered building is one in which the structural elements are manufactured offsite in a factory, based on a structural drawing that is determined before the manufacturing process starts. The structural elements are then carried to the job site for assembly and installation. The construction process is rapid. It takes anywhere between 30 to 50 percent lesser time to build a PEB than a traditional brick and mortar building.

Prefabricated buildings can last anywhere ranging from 5 years for smaller building to 100 years for larger buildings.

PEBs are essentially made of steel. The main load bearing structures like columns and beams made using MS steel or galvanised steel. For walls and roof cladding we use corrugated metal sheet – either single skin or double insulated with polystyrene foam, polyurethane foam, rockwool or glasswool. The doors and windows come in with multiple options like aluminium, steel, wood. Mezzanine floor, if applicable, is provided which is made using galvanised decking sheet.

It is a popular perception that PEBs are not a worthy alternative to their RCC counterparts. This is nothing but a myth. PEBs are superior not just in strength and durability but also in aesthetics. There is a wide range of customisation possible with PEBs where concrete buildings have limitations.

Talking about cost effectiveness, it would be an injustice to consider just the initial cost in PEB construction. The USP of PEBs lies in its long term cost, which includes the overall durability, maintenance and recovery cost in the lifespan of a building. All of this put together accounts for far less cost incurred than in a conventional building. The initial cost of raw materials during construction, when adjusted to inflation after several years, becomes equal to the cost of scrappage. So depending on the building type and layout even if the initial cost incurred is higher, the building owner will still recover the cost of raw materials at par with the original investment.

There are other types of benefits also. Consider schools, hospitals or office buildings built with PEB. Since PEBs take less time for completion than RCC, you can start your business faster and begin recovering the construction cost.

EPACK Prefab is one of the largest manufacturers of pre engineered / prefab structure buildings having its own steel fabrication centre, sandwich panel manufacturing, doors, windows, flashing all under one roof. We are a turnkey solution provider and do not depend on outsourcing, which enables us to have complete control over product quality and maintain project timelines without fail.

Every panel is made for a specific purpose. It depends on building type and application as to which panel to consider. For instance, if one has to build a cold room / clean room etc. where thermal insulation is of utmost importance, then PUF panels will solve the purpose. If sound insulation is important, like in a training hall or any institutional building where fire protection is the concern, then one can go with rockwool or glasswool. For temporary installations like site offices, then EPS panels are also suitable. ity to prevent fire from spreading.

Non-insulated wall and roof cladding use galvanised sheet or corrugated sheets. Insulated wall panels use sandwich panels – PUF, EPS, rockwool or glasswool insulation.

The height of a PEB again depends on the application of the building and its purpose. The range of the height starts from 3 metres and goes upto 40 metres as per the requirement.

The clear span range once again depends on the application of the building. We can design upto 60  to 80 metres of clear span but that increases the overall weight and cost of the building. Most cost effective is the range from 7 metres in width and 25 metres in height.

We have in house capability right from designing to manufacturing to project execution for any kind of building or product that we make.

PUF panels consist of a core insulating layer that is sandwiched between two metal sheets. Whereas PUF slabs refer to the core insulating layer.

PUF slabs are basically used for floor insulation where there is at site covering of the slabs. PUF panels consist of cladding sheets of metal which are used on walls.

The weight depends on the thickness and density of the core insulating layer. It also depends on the thickness of the metal sheets.

Yes, we do provide PUF slabs on request. Contact us if you have a requirement.

The whole cost depends on the layout and application and aesthetics and the configuration of the panels that we use. So we have relevant projects starting from Rs. 300 per square feet to Rs. 5000 per square feet depending on the overall layout and aesthetics.

We execute industrial, commercial and institutional projects. For residential projects, we supply materials if there is a requirement.

Yes, portable cabins can be installed on any flat surface. They do not necessarily need a foundation to sit on. Portable cabins are lightweight and can be easily carried from one location to another.

We have in-house capability of doing civil works. Generally we take up civil works for big turnkey projects of the government. We can consider civil work of large scale PEB projects on request.

When compared to a traditional building, a PEB takes significantly lesser time for completion. The construction time depends on the size, type and detailing of the building.

In addition to the floor area, we need to look at the layout of the building, the aesthetics, the wall and the roof in order to be able to evaluate the cost of the building.

We can give cost estimation only after detailed layout and specifications of the building have been received.

We have our price list for all the different types of panels and their thicknesses. Once we know your requirements, we can give you the price accordingly.

Yes, rockwool has very good sound insulation as well as fire resistive properties.

Yes, panels are the most suited for using on temporary structures since it is lighweight, has good insulation properties and resale / scrap value.

The thickness of the panel will be determined after we analyse the requirement of the project like the ambient temperature of the area at the project location. The other factors include installation type – whether inside or outside a building, the kind of products to be kept inside, the number of times the cold room door will open/close in a day, etc. Please feel free to contact our team for more details.

Our panel design has male/female jointing system with cam lock which holds the panels together firmly so as to withstand extreme weather conditions. The firm locking system contributes significantly to the strength of the building.
